Winemaker Notes
The 2024 vintage is commonly referred to as a “bountiful year of pristine fruit”. After a cooler and wetter than average winter, the vines were set up with great soil moisture for a strong start to the season. We saw budbreak the third week of April, and bloom beginning right around the summer solstice – both dates lining in perfectly with our historical averages. With no major heat spikes or remarkable events to report during the season, the Johan harvest began a week later than normal (early Oct) but was very compact once it started. With this balanced growing season, we enjoyed a long ripening window and nicely concentrated berry and cluster formation. We had an incredible team and the best of vibes turning this generous vintage into beautifully balanced wine – a vintage full of experimentation, energy and oh-so-much fun! Technical: ABV 11.3%, pH 3.77, TA 5.6 g/L.
